Top Six Result For Mikael Persson At GP Of Spain

Miglio Yamaha Official Enduro 1 Team rider Mikael Persson wrapped up round six of the 2016 Enduro World Championship with sixth and seventh place results in Gordexola, Spain.

Following a season best performance two weeks ago in Sweden, Persson arrived in Spain looking to solidify his position among the frontrunners in the Enduro 1 class. The Miglio Yamaha Official Enduro 1 Team rider kicked off his weekend in Gordexola on a high note by recording the third fastest time during the Super Test on Friday evening.

Posting times inside the top three in two of the nine special tests a small mistake in the final motocross test resulted in him having to settle for sixth, less than five seconds behind fifth-placed rider Rudy Moroni.

With conditions notably drier and dustier on Sunday, the young Swede put in a consistently strong performance to end day two in seventh place. With six out of eight rounds for the 2016 Enduro World Championship now completed, Persson hols ninth in the Enduro 1 championship standings.

Taking advantage of the long break in his FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship campaign, Yamalube Yamaha Official Rally Team rider Helder Rodrigues has opted to compete in the remainder of the Enduro World Championship, starting with the GP of Spain. Racing an essentially standard Yamaha WR250F in the Enduro 1 class the Portuguese rider finished 12th in the class on day two.

The 2016 FIM Enduro World Championship will now move to Fabriano in Italy for round seven on July 16/17.
