SOLID OPENING MOTO PERFORMANCE SEES GERMAN STAR BATTLE FOR TOP HONOURS IN ITALY

Earning a well-deserved runner-up spot in MXGP’s opening moto, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Nagl rounded out his participation in the eighth round of the Motocross World Championship with fifth overall at the MXGP of Trentino in Italy.

Showing great form around a tough and rutted track, the German star powered his FC 450 to a great start in race one. Quickly placing himself in second position behind race leader Tony Cairoli, Nagl delivered a committed performance to secure the runner-up spot.

Hoping to capitalise on his imposing speed, Nagl saw his chances for a season first overall victory diminish after a poor start in race two. Hunting down the leaders he was forced to charge from 22nd position at the end of lap one. He courageously battled his way to eighth place for fifth overall at the GP of Trentino.

Continuing to show signs of progress Nagl’s MXGP teammate Christophe Charlier enjoyed a strong moto one performance. Getting a good jump out of the gate and racing in fourth position for the first few corners the Frenchman placed 10th at the finish line. Suffering a minor fall midway through moto two, Charlier wrapped up his GP with a 22nd place result in moto two to earn 16th overall in MXGP class.

Looking to fight for a spot on MX2’s podium, Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Max Anstie had to dig deep in both races. Placed 11th at the end of lap one in the opening MX2 moto, he battled hard to cross the line in fifth. Failing to get a good start in moto two the Brit gave his all to cross the line in 16th for 10th overall.

In what was only his third World Championship outing, 16-year-old Conrad Mewse raced his Rockstar Energy Husqvarna FC 250 to 26th overall in MX2 class. Showing he has the speed to fight for a spot inside the top 15, the young Brit was unable to get the starts he’d hoped for and had to battle his way from the back of the pack for 26/22 results in each of the respective MX2 motos.
